12 Ups & 6 Downs From NJPW Best Of The Super Juniors 2019

8. BOSJ Heats Up In Korakuen Hall

Rocky Romero YOH

Korakuen Hall is one of the most storied and historic wrestling venues on the planet, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that it played host to much of BOSJ's hottest action, particularly during a three-night run from nights 8 to 10.

This was when the tournament really came alive. There wasn't a single undercard tag in sight. Each show was crammed with singles action and was worked to a brisk pace, with the bouts peaking at the right points in the card, though the majority of the preliminary contests offered something worth watching as well.

The 23 May card was the best of the three. DOUKI delivered his strongest performance of the tournament against YOH in the evening's fifth match, after which everything hit the right mark, before we hit the most staggering one-two punch of the entire competition: Will Ospreay vs. Bandido and Shingo Takagi vs. Dragon Lee. These sweet, succinct borderline five-star rippers provided the perfect conclusion, with both bringing Korakuen to a standstill.
