While it might seem odd to favor a ground-and-pound wrestler as your WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Drew Gulak has been about as good as it gets. He has shown he’s more than capable of mixing styles with high-flyers, and Sunday’s title match was no exception.

Gulak outlasted Humberto Carrillo and Lince Dorado to retain his Cruiserweight Championship in a kickoff show match that was all action. While it wasn’t a classic by any stretch, it was a good match that showcased Carrillo, the 23-year-old third-generation wrestler.

Hopefully, we’ll see more of Carrillo on a bigger stage going forward.
