12 Wrestlers Whose Ring Names Outlasted Their Gimmicks

11. Little Spike Dudley

Tazmaniac ECW Proper Size

Speaking of ECW, Little Spike Dudley makes this list, as well. Of course, he never ceased to be a Dudley, and he definitely never ceased to be little, but he did cease to be the acid-tripping hippie that the initials “LSD” implied. John Lennon may have denied naming Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds after the psychedelic drug, but ECW never denied how Matt Hyson got his ring name. The spaced-out runt of the Dudley litter even named his finisher, “The Acid Drop”.

By the time he made the jump to the WWE in early 2001 to join his half-brothers Bubba Ray and D-Von, he was simply “Spike Dudley”, master of the Dudley Dog (the Federation’s new name for the former Acid Drop), and perfectly lucid.
