12 Wrestlers With Terrible Backstories

12 & 11. Fake Razor Ramon And Fake Diesel

Creating fake versions of Razor Ramon and Diesel was one of the weirdest, most petulant things WWE has ever done. Eric Bischoff promoting Scott Hall and Kevin Nash anywhere near close to their old gimmicks was a crime to Vince McMahon. But someone like Jean-Paul Lévesque being re-named Hunter Heart Helmsley and keeping the same act was totally fine.

After Ramon and Diesel defected to the competition Vince thought he could just create new versions, and fans would grow to accept and love them, just like the old ones. He was, perhaps, clinically insane or heavily intoxicated during this decision.

From a storyline standpoint, it was never really cleared up on who these imposters were, and why they stole the tights of the real Razor and Diesel. Originally Jim Ross brought them both in, and pretended we were watching the same two guys we had just seen not long ago, possibly because he hated the fans or something.

One thing is for sure, both men were quite terrible at their imitations. Had they ever watched Nash and Hall matches before? Or were they maybe told about them by someone who knew someone who once watched one of their matches?

Mysteriously, both men suddenly disappeared, never to be seen again (though some rumour persist to this day that Fake Diesel met an unexpected tragedy when he was horribly burned in a fire...).

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
