12 Wrestlers With Terrible Backstories

8. Nailz

Big Boss Man Nailz

WWE has no problem hiring convicted felons apparently. Not just in real life where guys like Nathan Jones and MVP spent some time in prison before their run, but in their storylines as well. A man named Nailz (if a parent is going to name their kid Nailz, they should at least spell it with an "s"!) was given a second chance at life...and then immediately committed a bunch of crimes right in front of millions of people.

Nailz had been locked up for years for some unknown reason. When he got out of the joint, he somehow proved to the World Wrestling Federation that he was athletic enough to be a professional wrestler. Did he wear that orange jumpsuit to his job interview?

He didn’t seem interested in the money this exposure would afford him, which is strange since he likely didn't have an income the past few years. He only wanted to get in the business to fight The Big Bossman. He was out for him, because he used to be one of his prison guards.

Despite how ridiculous that is, what made things extra bad is that Nailz accused Bossman of violently beating him while he was in prison. So...Bossman really should have been the heel here. Also, you think the court system would be a better place to handle these serious allegations than a nightstick on a pole match at Survivor Series. But justice in served in various ways.

Well, in the end it didn’t matter as Nailz committed a real life crime when he choked out Vince McMahon backstage after a dispute over money. That incident was a death sentence to his career.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
