Hall of Fame induction: 2017

Kurt Angle might not have wrestled in WWE in 11 years when he was inducted into Hall of Fame in 2017, but the Olympic hero had been wrestling pretty much nonstop in those years.

So even after being inducted and given the Raw GM job, fans believed it was only a matter of time before Angle would suit up again in WWE. We’d get our answer that fall when Kurt stepped in for Roman Reigns as an honorary member of The Shield to take down Braun Strowman, Kane, Cesaro, Sheamus and The Miz.

From there, Angle would compete sporadically, most notably at Survivor Series that fall and then WrestleMania 34 with Ronda Rousey against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a critically acclaimed match.

Unfortunately, Angle’s run with WWE was downright sad at times, as he was clearly a shell of his former self, yet kept trotting out there in 2018 and 2019 for matches. He would have his retirement match at WrestleMania 35, which he lost to Baron Corbin of all people.

Fans likely still dream of Angle getting one last, good match to go out on, but that window might have closed.
