12 WWE Monsters Whose Muscles Were Bigger Than Their Skills

7. The Great Khali

When Khali first appeared before American audiences in the Adam Sandler football comedy The Longest Yard, viewers were in awe at the sheer size of the giant from India. The man born Dalip Singh suffers from acromegaly, the same gigantism disease that Andre The Giant was diagnosed with. While training for pro wrestling, he accidentally killed another trainee with a flapjack, an unfortunate mishap and no charges were filed. He began his wrestling career in Japan, where he worked as Giant Singh, before WWE quickly snatched him up and debuted him as a fearsome monster to challenge The Undertaker. The Great Khali€™s early days with WWE yielded some decent material, as he was portrayed as a dangerous threat and taken seriously by the rest of the roster, feuding with many of the biggest names working at the top of the card. At some point WWE decided that Khali would go over better as a comedy character and begin having him €œdance€ with little people and mumble incoherently while the audience laughed at him. Long gone are the days of The Great Khali being seen in the same vein as The Undertaker and John Cena. Now he€™s alongside Hornswoggle and 3MB as jesters in the king€™s court that is Vince McMahon€™s WWE. And to be fair, his inability to put on anything resembling an entertaining match is a big contributing factor. Many feel that if not for WWE€™s desire to break into the massive Indian market, he would have already been released by now, especially considering his salary is massive compared to other stars who are doing much more for much less.
