Def Rebel manning WWE's entrance music wing just hasn't worked out. There was a lot of talk that their deal with WWE expired in late-2024, but the group's fingerprints are still all over the weekly product thanks to some truly God awful entrance themes. Now, reports are doing the rounds that some top stars are sick of weak entrance tracks and want their old tunes back.

Things aren't going well then.

The 2025 Royal Rumble exposed how weak some of their tracks are. Fans in attendance had zero clue who some entrants were before their name or graphic flashed up on screens, and that’s a problem. It’s unthinkable, but what if WWE moves on from Def Rebel towards another provider and things get even worse. The general quality of music has been dipping in wrestling across the board this generation, so hopefully not.

Fans and wrestlers alike deserve better than the generic trash we’re being fed. It honestly sucks that someone as celebrated and noteworthy as Finn Bálor had music nobody recognised during the Rumble. Why should that be considered acceptable? Def Rebel's over-reliance on catchphrases and other oddities isn't even done well or creatively either.

For example, the "Role Model" line that plays in Bayley's theme feels woefully out of place, and so does some random dude encouraging you to hail "The Queen" during Charlotte Flair's entrance.

For balance, some Rebel tracks are better than others, but we really need to get some bespoke identity back into some of these things. People should know who's coming through the curtain straight away rather than waiting for a graphic or the wrestler walking into view.
