WWE finally realised this year that Dolph Ziggler's gimmick hasn't been a show-stealing superworker in the vein of Shawn Michaels for the past five years, but a perpetual disappointment trading on unfulfilled potential, a once-over hopeful now guaranteed to suck the life out of any arena with his bait-and-switch entrance teases.
It's not poor Dolph's fault most are frankly sick of the sight of him; a decade of over-exposure will do that for you. So instead he's leaned fully into his role as a deluded has-been, and as a reward, fans will get to see him flattened by another. Goldberg thought he could have a real wrestling match with The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia. He couldn't, metaphorically falling down the stairs during the Super Showdown farce. Much like 'Taker proved it wasn't on him, bro, last month, Big Bill is back to do what he does best on Sunday: beat a loser in the space of two minutes.
