13 Match Star Ratings For AEW Double Or Nothing 2022

2. Jurassic Express Vs. Team Taz Vs. Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland - AEW World Tag Team Title Match

Keith Lee Swerve
AEW

This was sensational pro wrestling.

If you somehow didn't watch it, and you're after an indication of quality before investing the three days required to watch the show in its entirety, as it got better and better, Jim Ross grew more and more irritable.

It was a spot-fest. It was a PWG match held in an arena, and if it wasn't quite as tight, smooth and free-flowing as the pinnacle of a genre that doesn't get enough respect, it was still a breakneck spectacle that blew the f*cking roof off the place.

The match followed the expected formula, in that the smaller men in each team wowed the crowd with innovative high spots before the three monsters heightened the excitement with their own improbably awesome take on aerial warfare. This was Keith Lee rolling back the years and Powerhouse Hobbs unleashing stuff that nobody thought he could do.

In a fortunate way, the convoluted booking ahead of the match massively enhanced the drama. An argument could have been made for any team to win, and this was explored tremendously down the stretch. Some of the near-falls were intoxicating, particularly since Starks was clever enough to debut a super-variation of his finish knowing that Luchasaurus saving Jungle Boy would protect it.

All six men elicited a state of heightened, bone-deep excitement.

Star Rating: ★★★★½
