13 Mind Blowing Facts About The WWE Elimination Chamber

13. Origin

The storyline origin for the Elimination Chamber was that Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff created it. However, that was always obviously a lie, as Bischoff was only ever employed in an on-screen role with WWE. He never once had input into ideas or backstage meetings. Years later, Triple H revealed that he was actually the one who came up with it. "I'm the one who invented it," he told wwe.com. "I drew a square cage and put four other squares in the corners, and I said, 'It's six guys. Two start and every few minutes, another cage opens and one more guys enters the fight, and everyone fights until there's one guy left.' I thought it could be interesting because, if the Superstars involved have issues, then there's intrigue. In typical WWE form, it was twice as big as I envisioned it and twice as elaborate." However, even that comment is worth taking with a pinch of salt. Yes, Hunter did sit in those types of meetings in 2002, but the quote could have just been a work for wwe.com What's more likely is what he alludes to at the end of the quote. A joint creative vision was likely what came up with the Chamber, with Vince undoubtedly driving that vision. The design was by Jason Robinson, who works for WWE as a Production Designer. As for the wider origin, it is quite clearly a derivative of the War Games matches seen in WCW.
