Its unfortunate when a moniker as historically prestigious as King of the Ring actually hinders a performer from achieving success. King Barrett won the tournament earlier this year, and since then hes been belittled and treated as nothing more than an oversight as a member of the WWE roster. The fact that he was thrown directly into a meaningless rivalry with R-Truth over the title of King of the Ring, with Truth demeaning the once honourable career highlight with his own comedic impersonation as King Whats Up. He was put into this pointless feud rather than a one-on-one rivalry for a mid-card championship or higher. Sure, hes been Intercontinental Champion more times than I can remember, but give the man something! The tournament is supposed to propel a mans career forward, not stop it dead in its tracks. Barretts back now from some time away, and apparently hes interested in joining the tag division so hopefully he does similarly to Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, and revitalises his career by teaming up with someone like Sheamus.
