13 Outrageous Onscreen WWE Weddings
3. Billy & Chuck
This is easily one of the most infamous wedding ceremonies
in WWE history.
You wish you could say it was a different world in 2002, but it wasn’t that long ago. Still, WWE portrayed a homosexual relationship between Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo as heels, making fans cringe at some of their affectionate behavior.
Then, WWE enlisted GLAAD to help them gain mainstream coverage for the commitment ceremony between Billy & Chuck, which would backfire when the ceremony itself turned out to be one huge ruse. Billy & Chuck revealed that they weren’t actually gay. They were pretending to be gay at Rico’s insistence to gain recognition and exposure.
Now, if you discount that part of the story, what happened next during the ceremony was pure gold. The officiant, a doddering old man, said that marriage was a serious commitment, whether it lasted a lifetime, a few months, or just three minutes. Suddenly, his voice changed.
The officiant revealed himself to be Raw GM Eric Bischoff in one of the best reveals in WWE, as he and 3 Minute Warning led a mini-invasion of SmackDown and attacked GM Stephanie McMahon. That alone merits high placement on this list, regardless of any misgivings about the mishandling of a gay relationship.
