3. Marttinen Likens Him To Donald Trump!

Mikko told 'Dark Side' that Donald Trump is the closest political figure he could compare Tony Halme to. Explaining, he added: “Feelings in their audience are much more important than facts”. There were Finnish people who rallied behind Tony’s charismatic approach. As a side note, it’s rather bizarre that Halme was so charismatic in politics but not really in pro wrestling.

VICE had already examined just how lame some of Tony's promo work had been as the heel Ludvig Borga. He never owned the room when he was prattling on about environmental issues in the United States or threatening to cut 'American Hero' Lex Luger down for good. If anything, footage shown here of Ludvig's heel promos reveal that they were barely good enough to air on television.

How did somebody with so little personality when the red light was on translate into a cult of personality game like politics? It doesn't add up, and it's almost like others around Tony were only using his fame to capitalise for themselves. It's worth saying that's never properly touched upon by any of the talking heads, but one gets the overwhelming sense that he was being used as a tool by sharks in Finnish office.

The Trump comparison will grab some attention online for sure. Marttinen probs knew exactly what he was doing by bringing up such a topical figure during the doc, but he does genuinely seem to believe that Halme shared a lot in common with Donald. It's a relevant bit of commentary, if nothing else.
