Tony was married to another woman after Deedee. He tied the knot with his second wife in 1998, but the pair split in 2005 following a particularly nasty incident. Halme had an argument with his then-spouse about his drinking and substance abuse one evening. A gun went off in their apartment, but the authorities still aren’t sure who fired it. Later, his then-wife returned to find Tony unconscious.

He slipped into a coma and reportedly had some brain damage when he came out of hospital. That's when legal proceedings attempting to thrash out what had happened kicked into overdrive. Get this: In court, Tony was working on a letter to the judge saying his entire character was preparation for a movie role “where he acts as a prison guard on an SS camp in Porvoo, so his role required that he has that [gun]”.

Halme's childhood friend Christer described this as “method acting”. What?! Why would anybody buy a word of this?

'Dark Side' didn't go into great detail about the outcome of the legal matter, but they did show someone in court holding up a picture of the gun Tony had in his possession. It was the same one that had been fired during the aforementioned argument with Halme's second wife. What a mess.

Basically, Tony was claiming that he needed the gun so he could do his best Christian Bale impression and method act until he could method act no more. It's hard to picture any judge falling for that idea.
