Tony’s ex-wife Deedee remembers her then-husband receiving several shipments from Russia that seemed suspect. One of the packages was even labelled “for horses”, so God only knows what Tony was pumping into his body. Deedee notes that he desperately wanted to be famous, and thought becoming a bodybuilder would help him do that; but Halme didn’t have the shredded physique for that sort of game.

He'd hang around bodybuilding gyms hoping to get noticed anyway.

Deeper into the documentary, Deedee wanted to put across why she fell in love with Tony originally when the couple met in the late-1980s. He developed a lot of the issues that'd come to the fore later on. Of course, Halme always had problems, but Deedee didn't notice a lot of things until it was too late. The couple got married in 1990 after meeting the prior year, and everything appeared to be going well at first.

Three years later, they got divorced (before Tony's WWF run). Halme's drug addictions were problematic, but he also started acting strangely other than that. Deedee suggested that her ex-husband was willing to go to any extreme to put on physical size and make something of himself. This tapped into that childhood need to be liked, admired and even idolised by those around him.

Still...finding out that her hubby was taking growth hormones meant for horses was a shock to Deedee. She didn't really know what to make of that at the time, but can now see that Tony was obsessed with finding fame. No matter what.
