13 Things We Learned From New Day On Talk Is Jericho

3. Big E.'s Terrible Wrestling Story

The muscle of New Day says his wrestling story is "terrible" and calls himself a failed college football player who was plagued by injuries. He met a guy who knew JR that asked if he was interested in trying wrestling so he sent some "weird shirtless pics that I took in my apartment" to Stamford. They apparently like those weird pictures because they flew him down to Tampa for a tryout. He enjoyed it and thought he could make a career out of it and went from there. E then talks about being a fan growing up and unsurprisingly being into the bigger, more muscular wrestlers. He says he met Goldberg when he was around 12-years old, and the former WCW star was very kind and gracious and signed an autograph for him. He told the story in a magazine and Goldberg tweeted him after the story came out and told him to pay it forward. He says he was in developmental for a long time but never felt like he was languishing the way some guys do because he needed every bit of that time to improve. He and Jericho then joke about how he lost his part of his name along with many of his colleagues like Rusev, Cesaro and Neville.
