13 Things We Learned From The Undertaker On Joe Rogan Experience
6. Jiu-Jitsu Training With A WWE Referee
Given Joe Rogan's own martial arts training and his spot as one of the UFC's most recognisable faces and voices, the topic of MMA was always likely to come up during the Undertaker's time on The Joe Rogan Experience.
The MMA chat came into its own when 'Taker's Hell's Gate finishing move came up, with that move being the Phenom's version of the gogoplata chokehold utilised in jiu-jitsu.
When asked if he'd ever had any formal jiu-jitsu training, the Deadman's surprising response was that he used to roll around with a former WWE referee.
"Funny enough, we used to have a ref that I'd get in there and roll with him. I would get there early and just pick his brain. By the time of the shows, I used to be exhausted. I did it because I like to understand why things are done, in everything - in boxing, in wrestling, in everything else."
Unfortunately, Undertaker didn't name the referee in question, although it's quite the visual to think of the hulking big man grappling around with one of the company's refs ahead of some big show or main event match.
'Taker also mentioned how his first UFC show was back when Chuck Liddell was on the rise and when Randy Couture was the UFC Heavyweight Champion, which Rogan said would be around 2003-ish.
In a fun jab, the Undertaker also threw shade at Brock Lesnar - explaining how he gave up on attending Brock fights, as Lesnar kept losing.
