13 Times The Joker & Harley Quinn Inspired Wrestlers
1. Doink the Clown
Last, but certainly not least, this list would not be complete without mentioning WWE's premiere clown, Doink.
While he would go on to become a fan favorite and a comedic babyface who would prank heels like Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna Vachon, Doink originated as a wholly menacing villain, tapping into one of the most common fears people have, coulrophobia—the fear of clowns.
With his bright green wig, sinister smile, maniacal laugh, and cruel gimmicks, Doink the Clown was a frightening member of the roster during WWE's transition into the New Generation Era.
Much like The Joker, Doink's use of props and jokes proved to be a danger to his opponents, doing things like poking out Tatanka's eye with a mop and attacking Crush with a loaded prosthetic arm.
The gags eventually won the crowd over and turned into sillier jokes, and the character never returned to its villainous ways. At least, not in WWE, that is.
Matt Borne, who had debuted as Doink before the character would be portrayed by several others over the years, reinvented the gimmick in 2010 for ISPW under the guise of "Reborne Again", this time inspired by Heath Ledger's portrayal, proving once and for all that Doink was indeed linked to DC's legendary antagonist.
