13 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Jun 3)

7. Elbow Meets Head

Colt Cabana Chris Jericho
AEW

While the finish looked a little off, with Colt Cabana clunking his way off the turnbuckles into Chris Jericho's Judas Effect, this was an effective little television clash with minimal screwing around, as Cabana tapped into his pure wrestling side over working shtick against 'Le Champion.'

Born of a confrontation after last week's Mike Tyson brawl, the announcers put this over as Cabana's most impressive performance since coming in. It's easy to justify that given the calibre of opposition and quality of his competitive spells, though keeping it a brisk 10 minutes was wise. Anything longer than that would have compromised realism.

The victory helps Jericho move back towards rankings contention and his opponent lost nothing in defeat. The contest was complimentary to both and that The Inner Circle weren't directly involved in the finish was refreshing too, despite Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager's looming ringside presence.

Props to Sammy for his deliberately awful rendition of Judas on the entrance, too.
