13 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Fyter Fest 2019

3. An All-Star Spotfest

Cocaine.

That's what Laredo Kid and The Lucha Brothers vs. The Elite was, but who would've anticipated anything different?

This was six of the most cutting-edge wrestlers in the world operating at the state of the high-flying art, with risks, giffable moments, and high spots aplenty. That's all it ever needed to be. While there were storyline considerations with the Young Bucks and Lucha Bros still feuding over the AAA Tag Team Championships, a slow-burning psychological epic wouldn't have fit the bill at all, though the supreme level of choreography and cohesion meant the contest was anything but mindless.

It was great seeing Kenny Omega and the Bucks doing their thing again after such a low absence, and Laredo Kid looked like a million dollars too. His highlight spots left the bout feeling like ALL IN's breathtaking main event, with Kid playing the Bandido role, walking out a much, much bigger name than when he was announced as Fenix and Pentagon's mystery partner. If AEW sign Laredo Kid, they'll make a star of him. Guaranteed.

A thrilling climax concluded with Omega nailing the One Winged Angel on Kid, not long after Fenix had taken everyone else out of the match with a big dive to the outside. The biggest star in the match beat the smallest. Textbook booking, and the Spanish Flies, Superkick Parties, and double-team fluidity were, at times, astounding.
