13 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Fyter Fest 2019

12. Goldenboy>Alex Marvez

Double Or Nothing's janky announce team was one of the biggest complaints thrown at AEW's maiden pay-per-view voyage, with the outstanding Excalibur forced to hold it together all night long as Jim Ross hit a few rough patches early on (before recovering the point where he actually sounded great by the end), and ex-NFL man Alex Marvez clearly in over his head.

There was an adjustment last night, with Esports announce Goldenboy replacing Marvez in the booth. This was a step in the right direction. While Marvez wasn't as awful as his biggest critics made out, his inflections and delivery were all wrong for pro-wrestling, while Goldenboy fit like a glove. Sure, he wasn't able to offer the same level of insight as his partners, but that wasn't his job. He was there to supplement the action with the right lines at the right moments and he did that admirably.

Whether or not Goldenboy was only here through the CEO partnership remains to be seen, but he'd make a solid addition going forward, particularly if AEW are to persist with the three-man booth.
