13 Ups And 16 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2019

6. An Anticlimactic Win

As we’ll note later, Seth Rollins was the right man to win the Royal Rumble, but really, did anyone have any doubt?

The Rumble itself moved along at a pretty nice clip, but there was really only one, maybe two storylines that was geared to a Rumble win. Typically, you want 3-4 guys who can believably win to try to headline WrestleMania.

In this case, there was a distinct lack of firepower: Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Jeff Hardy, Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley and R-Truth were among the final 10 entrants. None of them were winning, as they all are in the midcard (at best) on their respective brands.

Once Drew McIntyre was tossed, it was down to Rollins and Braun Strowman, and even then, it was hard to think the Monster Among Men would win after all his false starts.
