As a longtime WCW fan, this writer can’t hate on Goldberg. However, it’s still fair game to hate on how Goldberg was booked this year, and how that booking nearly ruined a character.

Bray Wyatt’s Fiend had been portrayed since his debut as all but indestructible, defeating Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship (as Wyatt) and then running through Daniel Bryan and tormenting The Miz before running into Goldberg at Super Showdown (the same show as the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy Gauntlet Match).

The WCW legend proceeded to demolish Fiend in 3 minutes, winning the Universal Championship to set up a spear-versus-spear match at WrestleMania against Roman Reigns… only that match never happened. Instead, we got Braun Strowman winning the title.

Regardless, 53-year-old Goldberg running through the top heel in the company to set up a match to presumably once again try to get Reigns over at Mania might be just the perfect example of Vince McMahon being Vince. Goldberg buried Fiend for what ended up being no benefit whatsoever, and Wyatt had to dig himself out from that hole.
