13 Wrestlers Who Were Better In NJPW Than They Were In TNA
1. Kazuchika Okada
It will never get worse than this for TNA, a lapse in judgement so bad that the company had to allegedly apologize to NJPW for potentially ruining the future face of the company. They took wrestling's greatest prodigy and made him eat loss after loss, before trying to capitalize on the atrocious revival of The Green Hornet, changing his name to Okato.
When a wrestler's character is based off a Seth Rogen movie, the deck is stacked against him.
NJPW would pull their boy out of there like an irate parent transferring their kid out of a bad school. Even for TNA, Okada would use his clout to lure in The Young Bucks, setting them on the path that would form The Elite, and AEW. Almost immediately after debuting his Rainmaker character at Wrestle Kingdom VI, Okada would carry the banner for the brand, becoming synonymous with the IWGP world title, and having the greatest matches of all time against challengers like Kenny Omega, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kota Ibushi, and Jay White.
Okada also lent himself to Cody's PPV, All In, which helped solidify the idea that another wrestling company could operate at the same level WWE does.
No fan watching Okato in TNA could ever have guessed that this man would become one of the central figures in making wrestling what it is today.
