5. Stone Cold Gives Mankind A Nice Day - Raw December 1998
The biggest pops of the Attitude Era undoubtedly came shortly after the sound of broken glass. In January 1999, The Rock was the Corporate WWF champion, and the newly babyface Mankind and Stone Cold Steve Austin were the two wrestlers chasing down Vince McMahons Corporation for revenge and the title. Mankinds actual defeat of The Rock for his first ever WWF championship was taped on December 29th 1998, but shown on Monday Night RAW on January 4th, the show being taped at the time. Austin had already earned a place in the 1999 Royal Rumble, and would have to wait to get back into the title hunt: but in the Attitude Era, there wasnt a main event spot that the Rattlesnake couldnt brawl his way into. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1--5ONSs3Mo Faced with certain defeat at the hands of McMahons henchmen and stooges in his RAW title match, Mankind would receive help from an unexpected source Stone Cold Steven Austin, in his ongoing quest to screw over Vince McMahon as often as he possibly could. The match was already massively over with the fans in attendance, who had wholeheartedly embraced Mankinds transition from creepy serial killer monster heel to cuddly underdog babyface, and genuinely loathed the Mr. McMahon character and his Corporation. The second that the glass shattered, the crowd went to an entirely new level of uproar.
