14 Biggest Pops In WWE History

2. The Best Crowd In The World - Money In The Bank 2011

This is another WWE moment for which not a lot needs to be said€ but we€™ll say it anyway. The Second Summer Of Punk in 2011 might never have happened if not for Punk€™s infamous, notorious worked-shoot promo at the close of the June 27th Monday Night RAW. Suddenly Punk wasn€™t just another contender €“ he was catapulted straight into the big leagues as the most talked about professional wrestler in the world. Parlaying real life issues and a real life contract expiry into a storyline, it was fairly revolutionary booking: Punk€™s beef wasn€™t really with Cena, or even with Vince McMahon, but with a world that had held him back and constantly told him he couldn€™t accomplish his goals and realise his dreams. People could relate to that €“ added to that, Punk was slagging the creative direction of the WWE as if he€™d been reading IWC message board posts (he clearly hadn€™t €“ like most pro wrestlers, Punk has nothing but contempt for armchair bookers and keyboard warriors). http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkn0g4_wwe-money-in-the-bank-2011-cm-punk-vs-john-cena_sport Booking the title match in Punk€™s hometown of Chicago was a stroke of genius, and the crowd delivered like gangbusters. This wasn€™t one of those times of Cena hate, either €“ the defending champion could have been Shawn Michaels and the crowd would still have been 100% behind Punk. Partisan crowd or not, the reaction for the main event here is off the charts incredible, and still blows the viewer away even three years later. Oh, and the match is pretty bloody good too, as is the finish. Nicely done, boys.
