14 Biggest Pops In WWE History

1. Icon Versus Icon - WrestleMania 18

There aren€™t that many dream matches out there anymore involving legends. People still talk about CM Punk and €˜Stone Cold€™ Steve Austin (never going to happen), and Sting versus the Undertaker (the moment passed for that one years ago). Back in 2002, a dream match actually took place at Wrestlemania 18 €“ The Rock versus Hulk Hogan. The match was billed as €˜Icon Versus Icon€™: possibly the two most charismatic stars in the company€™s history, locking horns on the grandest stage of them all. This one didn€™t need a title to make it, or a ridiculous stipulation. Although the other members of the NWO and €˜Stone Cold€™ Steve Austin were peripherally involved, there were no theatrics on the night. WWF made the match all about the wrestlers involved €“ their unprecedented personal connection with the crowd. The €˜Rattlesnake€™ might have been the bigger star of the three, but Austin couldn€™t control a crowd like the Hulkster and the Great One, and they demonstrated that here. The result was a match which had €˜big fight€™ written all over it: nothing else on the card was ever going to come close. Triple H€™s title bout against Jericho later on to round the card off might as well have taken place on RAW the next night. The crowd€™s reaction throughout is essentially one big pop, expertly harnessed and built-on by two modern day masters of the art of professional wrestling. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x13kgzd_the-rock-vs-hulk-hogan-wrestlemania-18-full-match-2k_sport That€™s not to say the match itself is that good: Hogan was still a technical buffoon and The Rock not ring general enough to squeeze a great match out of him. But the reactions made the match, and the finish€ electrifying. What€™s your favourite crowd pop of all time? Think you can recall one that should be our number 15 €“ or rank even further up? Then tell us all about it in the comments€
