14 Hot Takes On The Week In Wrestling (Jan 13th)

7. The WWE Hall Of Famer They Call Sting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJEt1sDOBnk Well, it's about time. One of wrestling's biggest stars from the late eighties and nineties is finally being honoured... by the company that he was competing against all those years. Hmmm. WWE's position as the winner of the Monday Night War has given them the opportunity for a lot of revisionist history over the last fifteen years or so, and Sting's feud with Triple H leading up to last year's Wrestlemania somehow fell victim to that mentality too. It still rankles that The Game went over in that match. As plenty of people have pointed out in the last nine months, you don't bring a wrestling icon into a company almost totally cold like that and then have him put over one of your part timers unless you've got an agenda. It's going to be interesting to see how they intend to portray his history as a wrestling icon, given that most of it is nothing to do with WWE. Vince hates being left out of the story, after all - and all indications are that Ric Flair, WCW's other MVP, is going to induct him. That's two back-to-back speeches from wrestling legends which won't mention WWE at all. At this rate, WWE will have to have McMahon personally induct Triple H and the Undertaker on the same night just to save face.
