The rise of the big man in the WWF was headed by the biggest of them all, Andre The Giant. Vince McMahon Jnr in the mid eighties was convinced that "larger than life" was the way to go. Andre had been around for some time and had been a draw wherever he went, proving to be very much a global star. He'd been a special attraction in the WWF throughout the seventies and that helped to identify the fact that bigger guys draw bigger money. McMahon Jnr took that notion and ran with it in the eighties. He made the WWF a "land of the giants" and the rest is history. Business boomed and Andre was undoubtable proof that special attractions helped to draw business. To this day, McMahon still favours larger than life wrestlers.
