5. He Came Up With ECW€™s €œLights Out€ Gimmick

During an early ECW show during a Sabu match, the building generator blew and the ring was plunged into darkness. Backstage, Paul Heyman was freaking out because the fans couldn't see anything and they were starting to boo. With experience running his own shows, Brian was used to thinking fast on the fly and coming up with solutions to problems like this one. He turned to Paul and told him, €œLet me and Ian hit the ring and attack Sabu, the fans will think it is part of the show.€ Paul refused, adamant that the idea wouldn't work. Eventually with the fans ready to riot, Paul agreed that Bad Breed could do it. Sabu was startled, screaming, €œWhat the f**k is going on?€ Brian yelled, €œSell!€ so Sabu sold. All the fans could hear was the sound of the commotion in the ring, they couldn't see anything. Ian told Sabu to do his famous from a chair to the top rope and into the crowd, but Sabu protested. €œI can€™t f*****g see!€ Ian insisted and, with perfect timing, the lights came back on just as Sabu€™s foot stepped onto the chair. The crowd came unglued and an ECW staple was born. All entirely by accident.
