14 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 19)
7. Let Them Fight
After last week's spiel on the abundance of long talking segments, yesterday's Kevin Owens Show was conclusive proof that WWE's writers read SmackDown Ups & Downs.
Maybe not, but it was great to see Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair doing something other than speaking at each other, and even better to see Owens actively acknowledge the previous episode's chat-heavy format by telling the duo to get down to business and throw leather.
KO's entertaining introductions brought the WrestleMania opponents down to the ring. He set the scene by speaking about friendships gone awry, recapping recent happenings in the Raw Women's Title storyline, then saying that the duo have talked a lot, but nobody wants to see them do that anymore. Cue: the inevitable pull-apart brawl, with Flair and Lynch scrapping to the floor before security could separate them from each other.
The live crowd adored this angle. It was an effective subversion of both the chat show format and the feud's recent goings-on, and Owens was an effective table-setter too.
