14 Ups & 3 Downs From NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard

4. Cobb & Ospreay Mesh Beautifully

Jeff Cobb Will Ospreay
NJPW/ROH

ROH TV Champion Jeff Cobb vs. NEVER Openweight Champion Will Ospreay opened the G1 Supercard proper, and it came exactly as advertised. That is to say it was absolutely astounding.

This was pure video game material, with Ospreay using his prodigious agility and athleticism to flip and fly his way out of Cobb's vast array of suplexes and slams, landing on his feet when he should have eaten dirt on several occasions. Their styles complimented each other perfectly. Cobb, one of the world's strongest wrestlers, was out to throw Ospreay across the ring like an empty tracksuit. He succeeded on several occasions, and this ultimately led to his victory, but watching Ospreay evade him and get hossy himself on occasion made for spectacular viewing, and one of the best matches of 2019 thus far.

... and it was only the third best bout on this show, for crying out loud.

A top rope Tour Of The Islands brought Cobb the victory and made him a double champions. Him and Ospreay killed it out there. Seek this match out immediately.
