14 Wrestlers With Winning Records Over Hulk Hogan

8. André The Giant

Hulk Hogan won the most famous match between the two men, which might well remain the most famous match in professional history.

At WrestleMania III, Hogan became the "first" person to ever slam André. This was a total lie, obviously, but there were very few avenues through which to discover the truth in 1987, and what's more, those fans didn't much care. It was a different time. People more readily suspended their disbelief. Wrestling was allowed to get away with itself back then, and the more earnest psyche of the general public better elicited the heat that wrestling strives for - but can rarely actually achieve - over three decades later.

In addition to various other names, Hogan himself had slammed André the Giant.

André and Hogan had worked together before, and extensively; between 1979 and 1983, across the WWF, New Japan Pro Wrestling and various territories, André Vs. Hogan had taken place 41 times. Hogan didn't win once; André either won or the match ended in a no-contest.

What might have happened, ordinarily, is that Hogan would have got his wins back - and how - as they toured the '87 match on the house show loop. André was in such desperate shape that they only worked three, all in Hogan's favour, after the legendary The Main Event angle of February '88.
