14 Wrestling Gimmicks Blatantly Stolen From Hollywood

12. Glacier - Mortal Kombat

It's no coincidence that some eight months after the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie tore up the box office, WCW debuted a distinctly Sub Zero-esque character named Glacier.

Glacier was, like his inspiration, a martial arts master who wore a mask and blue-coloured attire. Though the video games were hugely successful, it clearly took the $120+ million box office haul of the movie for Eric Bischoff and company to take notice.

Still, it was all for naught as while Glacier arrived on a tidal wave of hype, touted one of the most expensive entrances in wrestling (complete with snow and a lazer light show) and was a pretty decent wrestler, he bounced around the lower-mid card for most of his career and was gone by 1999. What a waste.
