15 Best Non-WWE Matches Of The Last Decade (According To Dave Meltzer)
6. Kazuchika Okada Vs. Tomohiro Ishii (5* - NJPW, 2016)
The tradition of five-star matches at NJPW's annual G1 tournament continued last year when Kazuichika Okada met Tomohiro Ishii in the early stages (clearly, they don't worry so much in New Japan about their main attraction - the competition's final, you would presume - being gazumped on the under-card).
If Okada's 2013 matches were good, then the run he went on (and is still, as far as we know, on) from the middle of 2016 on is the stuff of legend. Apart from two scale-busting matches with Kenny Omega (which - spoiler alert - we'll get to shortly), he also managed this lung-busting effort alongside Ishii.
All said, he's pretty good - and, as the youngest of the NJPW greats, probably has several more left in the tank.
