15 Best Non-WWE Matches Of The Last Decade (According To Dave Meltzer)

Two of NJPW's elder statesmen, neither Tanahashi nor Okada are ever likely to put on a truly bad match - but there's something about being in the ring together that seems to bring out their best work. They've been awarded the five-star rating by Meltzer on three separate occasions.

The first (and perhaps best) of them came at Invasion Attack in April 2013, which they followed up with another at King of Pro-Wrestling six months later.

In 2016, they headlined Wrestle Kingdom 10, in the unenviable slot just after Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles had torn the house down - and, somehow, they still went home having had the best match of the night.

Chemistry is important - but so, too, is time. Their three matches were well over an hour-and-a-half on aggregate, and they made every second count.
