3. Shawn Michaels Vs. The Undertaker - Hell In A Cell Match For WWE Title (Badd Blood 1997)
The Attitude Era might not have been in full swing yet but the original Hell In A Cell match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker certainly gave fans a glimpse into the future direction of the WWF. Michaels and Undertaker had clashed on a couple of occasions previously, most notably at In Your House: Ground Zero the month beforehand, but this was their first true classic with each other. The show had been a resounding dud before the main event but 'Taker and Michaels pulled out all the stops with a show-stealing and show-saving effort. Michaels was untouchable at this point, putting on great match after great match after great match. Although Undertaker had a great gimmick he had not yet developed into a super-worker but Michaels always seemed to bring the best out of the big man. The match was chock-full of highlights, including a mind-blowing mid-air bladejob by Michaels as he was catapulted into the side of the cage. The human demolition derby continued with Michaels falling off the side of the cell through the announce table and being decked with a brain-rattlng chair shot (never easy to watch in 2015) when Kane made his debut and nailed Undie with a tombstone allowing Michaels to eke-out a victory. An instant classic, every cell match since has fell short of the standards set in this one.
