15 Best WWE Matches Of 2014 (So Far)

7. The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family (Raw, March 3)

At February's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, The Shield and the Wyatt Family battled in the most anticipated match of the year. Before all was said and done, it would be recognized as the one of the best matches of the year, as well. With the buzz surrounding that match still incredibly strong, the decision was made to book the rematch for the March 3 episode of Raw. The Shield, slowly transforming from Authority goons to legitimate proprietors of justice but also experiencing some dissension, would have an opportunity to make up for their Elimination Chamber loss against a Wyatt Family who was surging and in the midst of a program with the top star in the industry, John Cena. It was against that background that they did battle, delivering another exemplary match that continued to demonstrate the flawless Six-Man Tag Team match formula that WWE had adopted. The bout was every bit as wild and chaotic as the original. Dean Ambrose played the face-in-peril while Seth Rollins introduced excitement and energy into the match with his ability to throw caution to the wind. Reigns exploded into the match late and tore through Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan but it was Rollins' actions late that generated the most interest. With Ambrose looking for a tag, Rollins dropped off the apron and watched from the ramp as his teammates were dismantled and beaten. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEI31gGlxew See Rollins, the architect of the group, had grown sick and tired with the in-fighting between Reigns and Ambrose and knew that, by giving them something to unite over, it would strengthen the group. It worked out and today, The Shield is stronger than ever and, arguably, the top babyface act in the company thanks to their war with Evolution.
