Hogan - so important in the early '90s to the WWE brand that they were willing to put his image front and centre on the 1990 Royal Rumble (and INFURIATING EVERY OCD-SUFFERING WWE FAN IN THE PROCESS) - was winning back-to-back Rumbles before it was even cool. While HBK did it in '95 and '96 and Stone Cold managed it in '97 and '98, Hogan claims hipster rights from back when the event was no more than an infant. And he managed 11 eliminations across the two events, which is all the more impressive given that Ted DiBiase managed 4 in his mammoth 44:47 stand in 1990. It might have been slightly devalued by the subsequent record-equallers, but winning two Royal Rumbles back-to-back might as well have been the same as running two triathlons. In a Hogan-less world in 1990, by virtue of being the second last man standing, Mr Perfect would have won (and there would have been no set up for Hogan/Warrior at 'WrestleMania XI). In 1991, that accolade would have gone to Earthquake.
