2. Agony-Inducing Blood Leaves Fans Unaffected

New Blood Rising is all well and good, but how about New Blood falling? The WWF had been working a "blood bath" gimmick with Gangrel and The Brood for a few years by the time WCW started getting in on the whole 'liquid falling from the ceiling' act. Russo played a part in that, and so did his New Blood faction as they warred with the more established Millionaire's Club on TV.

Numerous episodes of Nitro and Thunder throughout the second half of 2000 saw a blood-like substance fall from the ceiling and hit various wrestlers. This wasn't ordinary claret though, it was poisonous, painful plasma that caused workers to writhe around in agony or claim they'd been blinded. That premise fell (ha) apart once production miscues became rife.

Incredibly, WCW's blood pouring staffers missed their mark more than once. Russo and New Blood dropped the stuff on Kevin Nash several times, or at least tried to. 'Big Sexy' was either standing in the wrong spot or the spill went wrong, because it landed beside him on the mat or on top of the front few rows of ticket-buying punters. They had to be delighted with that. Just as well their briefs weren't as expensive as WWE's today!

Fans were obviously unaffected by the liquid, which made the gimmick look laughable. Speaking of which, those who did get covered in the goo laughed it off or busily cleaned it from their clothes and seats so they could sit down again. Presumably on their hands or something worthless like a Wildcat Willie t-shirt.

To make matters even more OTT, wrestlers who were hit with the blood after all of this still sold it like they'd been coated in skin-melting acid.
