15 Fascinating WWE Royal Rumble Facts You Need To Know

1. Jim Duggan and Shawn Michaels Are The Only Men To Participate In A Royal Rumble In Four Different Decades

The Royal Rumble may only be 28 years old, but the event does span four decades: eighties, nineties, aughts (the zeroes), and tens. Young Shawn Michaels participated in the 1989 version of the match, and was understandably a regular entrant throughout the nineties, as well as in his 2000s revival. His last Rumble match was in 2010, two months prior to his memorable retirement match. Jim Duggan achieved this feat through some guest appearances. "Hacksaw" won the 1988 match, took part in the 1991 and 1992 matches, and showed up as a nostalgia entry in both 2009 (satisfying the zeroes) and 2012 (the tens). The only living wrestler with a chance to replicate this feat is The Honky Tonk Man, as he has already checked off the first three decades. So there's still time!
