15 Greatest Macho Man Randy Savage Promos

1. "The Beat Goes On" - WWF (1987)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQfb3InOwGs Traditional understanding of mathematics don't apply in the universe of Macho Madness. In describing Randy Savage's babyface turn, Gene Okerlund states that Randy Savage has made a 720 degree turn as a character. Unfortunately, that just means that he went from heel to babyface to heel to babyface to heel again. Semantics, you say, right? But that's not what makes this promo incredible. It's the veering off into interplanetary mysticism that does. "Interplanetary mysticism?" Yes. The promo is best known for having an allusion to Sonny and Cher's 1967 hit song "And The Beat Goes On," but it's when free jazz mystic Sun Ra's "Space Is The Place" comes into the conversation that things reach another level. "Unbelievable. Time Distortions. Space is the place, Mean Gene Okerlund. Go down that lonesome highway, yeah! But don€™t be hypnotized, no. Reincarnation doesn€™t have to be. You can concentrate and you can, uh, mental telepathy, yeah!" And if that isn't weirdly great enough for you, he redoubles his efforts with this: Right there the fork in the road. I said go right, Elizabeth said go left. I went right and then, and then, I understand what the situation was. I went over that one bridge, yeah. And then, when I crossed that bridge I found out that I was on the right side. And I said Elizabeth follow me, yeah! Because I€™m going straight to the top! The stars, yeah the stars. One shining star in the night shining brighter than all the other ones! And I€™m talking light years away, yeah. Ladies and gentlemen, Randy Savage, mystic traveler. God bless him.
