7. Chris Jericho & X-Pac’s Creative Cage Match

'Y2J' was hot property by the summer of 2000. Chris Jericho's wonky start in 1999 gave way to a stunning babyface run that included a ghost WWF Title win over Triple H, some fab Intercontinental Title matches, and a 'Last Man Standing' scorcher vs. Hunter at Fully Loaded that really put Jericho on the map as a headline attraction.

So, following up on that by feuding Jericho with X-Pac seemed a little strange. Talent won out once No Mercy 2000 came along in October, right enough. 'Y2J' and Pac worked a steel cage match that featured several of the finest spots fans would see all year. The pair had chemistry coming out of their ears from first minute to last.

Weirdly, WWE don't replay footage of that Walls Of Jericho atop the cage, or the creative finish that saw X-Pac showboat whilst standing on top of the open door. Jericho dropkicked it, which caused Pac to fall crotch first on the top. Both spots were phenomenal, and they deserve a lot more love that they ever get from fans or the company itself.

Jericho vs. Pac might've felt like a slight step backwards for the former at the time, but it was an underrated feud for sure. The rivalry provided Chris a chance to flex his creative muscles alongside Sean Waltman (who was always up for trying something new in-ring), and it plugged a gap in his schedule in between title reigns.

You'll probs never see it on lists looking at the best steel cage matches ever, but that doesn't mean it's one to avoid.
