Ever since WWE began heavily promoting Undertakers undefeated WrestleMania streak, it became one of the most anticipated matches at the event. Every year fans wondered if it could be the year someone finally beat him (well, besides Mark Henry's go at it), but after Shawn Michaels and Triple H failed in back-to-back attempts, it seemed that Undertaker would ride off into the sunset with no losses to his name at WrestleMania. The perfect ending was going to be written. And why would anyone believe WWE would change that? The Steak was so popular with fans that any heel or babyface who ended it would run the risk of drawing the anger of fans. Or even worse they'd be mad at the company itself and not the wrestler. It was also a guaranteed money-maker, so anytime Taker wanted to come back, there was sure to be increased buys for the event. The idea of Brock Lesnar toppling Undertaker at Mania 30 seemed almost laughable. Sure, hes a former WWE and UFC Champion, but John Cena and Triple H had already beat him. He wasn't booked as unstoppable monster. Besides that, hes an extreme part-time act, so having Taker pin him seemed like the logical choice. Instead, WWE shocked the wrestling world by ending The Streak which started back in 1991. Fans around the arena had their mouths blasted open in shock. It seemed like it had to be a mistake, that Taker was meant to kick out. Conspiracy theories even floated around the web in the following days claiming that what we saw wasnt the intended finish. Of course it was, but it was such a bizarre call that it wasnt that hard to believe. Witnessing Taker sit up after his loss is truly one of the most surreal moments in WWE history. They say all good things must end, but this is something WWE should have made live forever.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
