15 Things You Didn't Know About WWE Smackdown

Check your knowledge as WWE celebrates fifteen years of Smackdown.

WWE Smackdown is celebrating fifteen years on broadcast television. First starting out in 1999, by 2002 it had evolved into being the greatest wrestling show in the world. You had men like Kurt Angle and The Undertaker contesting some of the best matches of the 2000's decade. You also had some of WWE's most epic angles, unforgettable moments that ensure we'll remember Smackdown in a nostalgic light. The 'brand extension' was a big part of that success. It gave Smackdown its own unique identity, standing it out from Monday Night Raw. You had wrestlers like Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero who were exclusive to the blue brand, which meant you simply had to watch the show to see what happened. The show has taken a bit of a back seat to Monday Night Raw in recent years, but it still remains the place to go if you want to see longer and more technical wrestling matches. The brand extension has ended, but the best wrestling talent still work the Friday show. As John Bradshaw Layfield used to say, "Friday night is where people come to fight!" In celebration of Smackdown's birthday (and because we love the show) let's look at fifteen things you didn't know about WWE Smackdown!
