15 Things We Learned From Scott Hall On Steve Austin Show Part 2
14. Becoming Razor Ramon
After the match he was taken backstage to talk with Vince, with the added comfort factor of having his good buddy Curt sitting in on the meeting. This was during a time when the gimmicks were all based on reality and professions. Vince told Scott that hed heard his father was in the military and Hall stopped him and said Vince, if you want me to be GJ Joe Ill be the best damn GI Joe I can, but have you ever seen Scarface? The WWE boss is notoriously behind the times when it comes to pop culture and this instance was no different as he had never seen the iconic movie about the drug kingpin. The head honcho was sold on the gimmick and told Hall he needed a name. One of the first suggestions was Shrug Shadow, but that didn't click for obvious reasons. Road Warrior Hawk also offered up the bane Deadbolt, which Hall liked but didn't feel fit the character. Razor was a name that he liked but Vince was initially reluctant, telling Scott there's already a boxer named Razor Ruddock. Hall replied in character "I'll kick his f*cking ass" and McMahon laughed and decided to go with it. But the last name was still missing, and it was Tito Santana who suggested the name Ramon while both men were using the urinals at the arena.
