15 Things We Learned From Scott Steiner: Live And Uncensored

3. Almost Dying In Puerto Rico

Steiner mentioned that during the Rumble outing with Triple H, his left foot was pretty much useless. Steiner had 'drop foot' syndrome at the time, severely limiting his mobility. WWE had been trying to sign Steiner for months, but his physical condition had prevented it from happening. The drop foot syndrome is not the worst injury Steiner has ever had, mind. The man claimed that the only thing he hasn't had surgery on is his right ankle and that his body is full of screws from years of surgeries. The absolute worst, however, was when he was given just five hours to live following a match in Puerto Rico. The incident happened in 2007, when Steiner was kicked in the throat during a match and then rushed to hospital (the same one that Bruiser Brody died in) when he was having difficulty breathing. When there, the doctors told him he had a torn trachea and was hours away from death. Steiner told, rather hilariously, how he didn't believe the doctor because he was balding on top with with curly ginger hair on the sides and had one eye going one way and one another. Another doctor confirmed to Steiner that his situation was serious and after calling his wife, he decided to comply despite wanting to check himself out and catch his flight. He woke up three days later, having been in an induced coma. It would be some time before he would get home, since he couldn't fly as it would collapse his lung. This whole situation sounded awful and Steiner was visibly emotional when talking about the phone call he had to make to his wife.
