Whilst Joanie Laurer has had many traumatic moments in her life, one of the darkest times was during her stay at the University of Tampa when she was drugged and raped by two men at a party. Having talked about the incident in several interviews over the years, Laurer also addressed the vile act in her book, If Only They Knew, and has said how writing the book helped her deal with this and some of the other darker moments of her life.
