15 Ups & 13 Downs For WWE In 2017

13. Undercard Gems

WWE's vast talent pool has many hidden depths. While athletes like AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, and Alexa Bliss stand out at the top of their respective divisions right now, the company's undercard is swimming with performers who don't always get the recognition they deserve. Why? Because they've been cast in enhancement roles.

Their job is to make others look good rather than standing out themselves, but that doesn't mean they're any less important, and WWE generally do a great job with their presentation.

Drew Gulak has been a revelation as the outlandish Enzo Amore's straight-faced goofball sidekick. Elias is one of the company's most reliable heat magnets, and a tremendously effective midcard heel who, while limited between the ropes, never fails to draw a reaction. On SmackDown, Aiden English's singing gimmick is hugely over, and a big reason behind Rusev's recent surge in popularity. Breezango's 'Fashion Files' series has delivered dozens of genuinely funny moments in a company known for making a mess of all things comedic.

None of these performers will ever be viable main eventers, but they're all fantastic, and a welcome break from the drudgery that often inhabits WWE's upper tiers.
